| Principle: | The technology enables the immobilization of biomolecules (e.g., DNA) onto a substrate material (e.g., silicon wafer) and the further processing of the substrate in microfabrication to create microstructures and microelectrodes. Biomaterials can be patterned and are perfectly aligned to microstructures and microelectrodes on a micrometer scale. The technology provides an "interface process" that makes biomaterials compatible with microfabrication.
